I'm getting into this a little late.  But that doesn't stop me from add in
my 2 cents.

I recently replaced my CD drive and it has a special driver that lets me use
it like a 600MB floppy drive,  read and write at will.  If I read a
commercially produced CD it operated like normal, but if I format the CD
myself the drive can only be opened via software, this special driver
(INCD).
