	I suppose this is possible, but the drive should open and close
	regardless of the presence/absence or condition of the device
	driver.

	Good quesiton re: automatic opening.  If he's talking about
	opening via a soft switch, then I fully agree that there could
	be something in the driver, but if it is not opening when he
	presses the physical button by hand, then I am pretty sure it
	is popped hardware.
