QTH.NET is the host of our mail list [email protected], but I guess most of
you have figured this out for yourselves. In case you're wondering about
why we get those letters with the request for donations, the following
might help. But keep in mind that ABANA is still sponsoring this list and
makes an annual donation for us. As a matter of fact they are making the
annual payment for 2004 this month.
The following was a question and response on the List-Administrators mail list:
>>Since you probably don't have anything to do right now <grin> how about
>>explaining to us how QSL and QTH.net are connected to the outside world.
>
>
>We have 2 networks here:
The first, 64.238.2.0 is not the network that TheForge is on. <Dave B>
>64.238.2.0 is 4.5Mb and come to us via a 2.4 Ghz microwave link. The
>microwave Radio and antenna is about 40' off the ground with just a
>network cable coming down for the connection to the switches and servers.
>This has been in operation for about 2 years and is really quite trouble
>free. This network has all 4 QSL.NET web servers, a DNS server and the
>mailman list server on it. It is using 3.0Mb of the 4.5Mb capacity. This
>circuit costs $1150 a month.
63.238.179.0 is the network that TheForge resides on. <Dave B.>
>63.238.179.0 is a 1.54Mb T1 on Fiber that we have had for 4 years, I has
>the QSL mail server, QSL.NET incoming FTP server,DX.QSL.NET
>server,WWW.SWL.NET, 3 DNS servers, some admin servers as well as my PC on
>it. This circuit costs $450 a month.
>
>I also have a Starband dish for incoming FTP traffic but it seldom works
>at published specs so I just take what I can get from it.
