I too am no fan of the watermelon marxist.

Not quite that simple for me. I have no problem with the
idea of animal rights per se. The predicative elements
for me, regarding whether "correct" is if they prevent
me from doing things that are reasonable. I have a big problem with a
law that prevents me from going out to shoot a deer for dinner, though
that we eat other animals to sustain
ourselves does not give us license to treat them in any manner we may
happen to choose. Demanding that feed critters
be raised and kept under conditions where they may be reasonably
regarded as "happy" (to use a horribly loaded term) is not
in itself unreasonable. I am wholly against the use of animals in
testing of any sort whatsoever. It is a disgusting practice,
much like dragging them into our wars. In my personal opinion,
no human worth his weight in bat guano would ever want to do such
a thing. This is only one man's opinion. OTOH, we need to eat
and have the "right" to eat whatever we desire, including animals.
How we treat those animals in the preparation to eat is something
I take great issue with in many cases.
In a nutshell, I have no problem with keeping them as pets or
eating them, but causing them agony is for me absolutely
unacceptable and were I to witness such acts I would probably
take immediate steps to stop it.
The animal rights knob-heads are just freaks that would not
recognize the middle path if it bit their nuts off. As I
said in an earlier post, American politics is a place of nothing
but extremes. There is very little sense and balance there.
Of all the nations on this planet this is the one where that
ought not be so.
