 I am looking at purchasing an anvil but I can not determine
its true weight or its maker.  All it has is a 88 and hand
wrought on it.  Those are the only markings on it, it is
really good shape and as far as I have seen from the picture
I have seen of it has no chipping at all.  I dont know its
weight but all I know is the woman who owns it can't pick it
up.  She says it was her grandfathers and that its about 100
years old.  Anyone ever heard of something like that?  Also
how do I figure out if its cast or forged?
