Ray, Paul,

Thanks for the reply. In my first set of questions back to the customer I
suggested to him that he check with the local athorities.  Since I'm 150
miles away it would be hard for me to track it down.

He also wants the arch over the gate to be hinged loke a gate. I told him
that the post would need extra support inside for this.  I think that I'll
suggest he just make the arch taller and not swing.

The UBC (Uniform Building Code) does not apply to driveway gates, as long as
there are no stairs or elevation drops of more than 12 inches.  All railings
gates and safety related stuff has to follow the 4" ball test.
