Hey Chris,
I uploaded 2 pics of the anvil to thr tools & tooling section page 4 of
http://www.photoaccess.com
My anvils aren't ment to replace London pattern anvil's. They are designed
for bladesmiths who don't need a large anvil face to work on but do need and
good hammer rebound. ( the whole anvil face is a "sweet spot").
My height adjustable knife anvil is made up of (2) 5 1/4" X 5 1/4" X 12"
billets of 1340 double melt Crucible steel square stock, welded together end
to
end, face machined and heat treated in super quench .
The steel came from an Army munitions plant that closed down in Mississippi
several years ago. It was used to make 155 MM Howitzer rounds.
I machine and heat treat the top face to approximately RC 50 The steel has
2% manganese
in it so its really tough stuff. Its about the same RC.as my Hay Budden
anvil.
The anvil + base weight about 250 LBS. Shipping weight is 280 lbs.
The complete anvil with adjustable base (from 31" to 38 "), and SS wire rope
sling for lifting the billet, costs $400 + shipping.
The finished anvil without the base is $275 + shipping.
Due to several requests, I'm now also making a finished anvil without base,
from One billet of the stock.
It is 12" tall and weighs 91 lbs. It costs $150 + shipping
I sell a video, that shows how to make and use them, for $25 including
priority shipping.
My production of these anvils is very limited.
I have a contract with FEDEX FREIGHT to ship the anvils.
If you are interested, send me your address and I'll get you a quote on
shipping.
