[TheForge] Good tools, bad tools, you know Ive seen em all

I think how much you spend on tools has more to do with how you think about
yourself, and how much you love tools, than it has to do with how well they
work or whether you really need em.

I have known a few people who could make anything out of garbage, literally,
with no tools. A rusty screwdriver, a claw hammer with the handle electrical
taped together, pounding on a piece of scrap metal, burning old pallets and
using a car heater fan. One pair of vise grips replaces a hundred pairs of
tongs.
Part of it is pride in never spending a dime.
Part of it is skill.
Part of it is just wanting to prove it can be done.

Then, on the other hand, there are people like me, who just feel good inside
looking at all those tools. Greed, Pride, Gluttony, lots of the deadly sins.
I think I just bring jobs into the shop to justify owning the tools.

People in both categories do excellent work, and crummy work. Tools dont
make the man- they just make him happy.
