This was obviously a solution looking for a problem. A nicad battery
and wall wart charger would have kept him listening to music all day.
Years ago I set out to build a small generator using a sterling engine
as a power source. The use was to provide lighting for night fishing
for a friend of mine. At that time several very practical people asked
why I didn't just get a big battery. My answer was that a sterling
engine spinning all night was mor ineresting than watching a battery
discharge.
