Because of all the forge participants from the brainiacs to Maine-iacs I =
was so inspired to
take a metallurgy class. What a plethora of tensile knowledge! Get to t=
he point you say...
Well, the word "tuyere" was mentioned in the process of smeltering fe203=
. (Are you impressed yet?) There was a female french welder in class (I =
didn't know it was a female) who said it is a french word but that was al=
l she could offer. I am dissapointed to say that the prof. had no clue a=
s to its origin.
I found reference to it in a Percy Blanford publication. It means "blowp=
ipe" and that is all I know.
Can anyone lead me to the history of the word and its first known origin =
and how is it pronounced?
