MAY 17-18 - Spring Meeting, Haverhill, IA. Roger Carlsen, of Frankfort,
IL, has a great demonstration planned. Roger will present what he
describes as a "Gift Potpourri", these are projects non-professional
smiths can make to be sold in gift shops or used as gifts for family and
friends. He will also demonstrate White Metal Casting. This is a process
using room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone rubber molds to
replicate old pieces or produce new pieces. "This process is very low
tech," said Roger, "with very small cost involved". More than likely,
most smiths will have the majority of equipment required in their shops
already & just need the supplies to start casting. Roger will also
demonstrate Architectural Elements, including scrolls and scroll ends. A
special Friday Night Program is plan, including a video tour of Ephraim
Forge and a discussion about the business and economics of a one-man
blacksmith shop. DON'T MISS THIS!
