I guess it would depend on what you plan to do with it.  I worked in a shop
that had  a little welder like this but it was 220v maybe it was called a sp
150, don't remember, anyway it looked just like the sp 100 but was 220v, it
worked just fine. I'de guess most of the iron I welded on was 3/8" or less.
Ussualy had the voltage at it's max setting and when I started using C25
instead of CO2 for sheilding gas had to have the wire speed on max as well.
