Recently I was salvaging an old water heater ( I wanted to use the old 
taknk for a furnace shell) but found the real treasure was the soft 
sheet steel outer cover.   Large pieces of the softest steel I have ever 
worked.   It doesn't tear easily, but can be bent by hand.   Had to be 
at least twenty gauge.
