Thanks Mike and everybody else who came through with anvil / hammer ratios.
A 15:1 anvil to hammer ratio will be reasonably easy for me, even if I have
to cast my own. <grin>
Being in the far northern hinterlands as I am makes finding something like a
12" sq x 36" hunk of steel a bit problematical. Still, once I get a shop
up, hopefully this summer, building a cupola melter won't be a big deal. A
1,500 lb. one shot pour will make that alumanized fire suit useful. Just
like I said it would be when the wife gave me THE LOOK when I brought it
home.
Of course she has NO idea what 1,500 lbs of molten iron hitting the mold
will be like. I'll probably send her to town that day. <grin>
