The mix is good for indoors, but doesn't stand up well outside.  Inside an 
occasional recoat with paste was usually does the trick.  Outdoors?  Plan 
on constant maintenance.

Usually for outside I use paint.  1 coat of primer over clean descaled 
metal and 2 coats of enamel.  Annual maintenance is still usually 
needed.  But depending on location you may get more life out of it.  Powder 
coating can last a long-long time if done right.
