What a great hammer in we had a ball ,meet
lots of people ,learned new tricks
for this old dog to try , ( I HAD A GREAT
TIME ).
I can`t tell all that that went on , some of
the best demos I have seen.
James Gibsons forging a knife has to be seen
=Dang he maks it look easy
,hammer control you have to see to belive ,
James it was great as allways .
Len Landrum always teaches me some thing new
anytime I get to talk to him
and a great friend ,boy am i the luckiest guy
in the world or what .
Im thinking of asking him to put hinges on
his skull so we can just flip it open
and get all that information that guy knows
about metal and steel out.
James Batson was a great inspiration to watch
.and what talent wow he and
Larry Harley forged out a battle axe, man I
do belive that the sprits of the
yester year were influencing the form that
Axe took on ,some thing to watch,
thanks guys .
I had such a great time .
Jame Gison also put on a Flint -napping demo
, at first i thought that some one
was in line for a stoning ,he had so many
rocks. But that not being the case I
came out of hiding and watched .
He is very good at teaching this craft or
some are very good at learning ,Dana
Ackers showed me a piece he napped for the
first time that day, that was just
beautiful, all I can say is Dana is a fast
learner and a very talented person ,
Dana always empresses me, destened for
greatness I think.
FUN FUN FUN
to explain how excited the week end was is
more than most can tell , shoot I
saw a guy one morning .A full growed man
trembleing at the knees and shaking
all over, eyes blood shot and mummuring in
antisaption of the upcomeing events
,( really was embarrassing to watch ), so I
turned away from the mirror and
headed out to get the mornings coffee.
As Has been mentioned coffee was consumed by
the gallen thanks to Larry for
being a great Host
and special thanks to (Trish )for providing
coffee in times that the large pot
was brewing more coffee.
Laughter was loud at times ,silience was rare
they were some very intense
mnoments -- Just ask Billy Bob - finily
caught him speachless. Hey that ant
easy funny story
I dont know about the rest that was there but
to say the least I had a great
time .
I met a lot of new people and had a great
time with old friends , my Friend Earl
Johnson came down from New york- snowed in
for months up there
he want admit it but I think i saw him
kissing the nice green earth of east Tenn.
TJ! a move might be in your future.
I know this is long ,but im still thinking of
all that went on ,
Larry I cant say all I would like ,you know
words cant express the life long
memories that this week end produced.
Thank You very much for making the effort to
open your home and shop I know
its a lot of work thanks also to your family
for all their efforts ,I know all worked
hard
the food was great, Jim Thanks
for those that dont know Jim Prills is a
great cook and knife maker as well / //
its embarrassing to watch grown men makeing
perposals to another man but I
was forth in line. but Jim turned me down ,I
meet his wonerfull wife and I
understand why . Jim did I mention that you
are in my will.
I also want to thank Darren Ellis for filming
the whole event. He worked hard not
to miss a thing and Im sure pictures will be
comeing in soon , I have the good
fortune to have Darren helping me at this
time in my shop . and not only is he a
great help he loves knives , I hope we build
a long and lasting friendship of
which I would be the benefactor.
How lucky we all were to have Richard
Williams to give a demo I personaly
learned a lot .
what a tallent and a great teacher he has a
way of theaching that is unique .
the hammer and anvil took on a new meaning to
me and I now have Williams to
thank . Richard is one with his craft. I
think I have introduced him to the
(electric file ). With the great grinders
that Rob Frink brought for us to use it
was no effort. also i cant say enough for all
the effort Rob puts in to his
grinders for our needs.
The food was great the host was surperb a few
of us mention staying there.
But, some one most have told Larry, because
he brought out the bull whip and
started CRACKING THE DANG THING making it
sound like a gun going ofF so we
changed our mind really fast ,
now I know why the are no bull chipmunks
around Larrys shop.
AND TO Josh Blunt one of the great memorys of
the weekend that will be with
me for ever - i love the pipes , and so did
evey body else .
its been told that a hammer in in Tenn, cant
go on with out you being there ==
its law i think.
Sorry for the long , I just wanted to let you
all know what went on .
oh by the way did i mention that i had a
great time
