Pictures of viking padlocks from the three books that I have on hand can be
found at the following addresses. Note that some letters must be in upper
case!
I hope this helps. It looks like the there might be two different
possiblities. One lock has one spring and one ward and another has no wards
but three springs. I have not included the picture from the The Mastermyr
Find by Greta Arwidsson and Gosta Berg (Larson Publishing Company, since
most of us have that book. I think the picture in the Cultural Atlas seems
closer to what Bob Morris was talking about, though the one in the book the
Vikings is easier to make. I made a Viking style lock using alittle
artistic license. It has only one spring and no wards....but it works okay.
