I just got back from an SCA event where we discussed Viking Locks!
...small world...I have several (3-4) books from various digs which
describe
the the locks and show pictures of how they worked. I will try to scan
in
the drawings and photos tonight. If you want copies, I can post the
pages
online at my website or I can email them to you.
