1. What are your personal goals for blacksmithing?
To enjoy the smithing and the people. I am not very good but I love it
anyway, as good as I can get with the time I have available. But I want to be
artistic and do that which I want for my own enjoyment.
2. Are you more interested in technical skills, design skills, or equally
devoted to both?
I want to learn design skills, I can do the basics well enough but design
escspes me. I would love to be considered artistic .....one day.
3. Do you like to do projects or make up your own, or both?
I would like to do both... but I am a bit disorganized and am not good at
getting things done.
4. How much time per week, or month do you set aside for your
blacksmithing?
As often as I can... none now as I have a blown out shoulder
5. How much time do you set aside for studying blacksmithing in other ways,
through book research or your own sketching?
Now that I am injured I read alot... I try to draw because I hope that I
may get good at it someday.
6. Do you set yourself certain goals in the shop?- for example, maybe in
June,
you are going to work strictly on collars, or in August, you are going to
work on perfecting scroll designs
Never... one of my big faults... I right now have mostly finished tools
for Mastermyr in my shop.... not finished...and they should be.
7. If you don't like to work with a goal system- then how do you decide
what to
work on ?
I have a shop that is now my own again... it was filled with another
smiths tools for storage...after the shoulder thing I hope to get the
projects I hve mostly done completed and sent off... I have a repairs for a
few people in various stages also....Im a mess
8. What motivates you?
Boy I wish I knew....I love doing it when I can...I do have other
hobbies also...hunting, fishing, golf, politics I also love smithing with
friends...that helps.
9. Do you have anything else to add that I didn't think about asking?
Nah you did good
