Just getting busy maybe. Summer is officially here and all that stuff
that I'm gonna get done this summer is piled up like a 50-car freeway
wreck. New axle on car, brakes on truck, power for the A&O hammer,
day trip to get Webster magneto repaired, stairs and wiring for new
shop, new woodshed, extirpate the knapweed infestation in yard and
field, nurture the broccoli plants that aren't thriving, replace the
kitchen ceiling, live-trap the last of 5 chipmunks that are digging up
the broad beans and eating them. Oh, and of course, forge some iron.
Whatever am I *doing*, sitting here at the keyboard? Well, call it a
coffee break. :-)
ObForge: Built a brake for my 25# Jardine with a little help from the
Wildrose Forge tape. Works pretty good. Needs a little tuning up
with hot iron under the hammer instead of a piece of 1/2" conveyor
belt. I think I'm having some trouble with the drive belts since it
works percfectly one time and hits poorly another. That is, I don't
think it's problem with the timing/spring-tension setup because during
a "percfect" episode, there's no "bang/tap/miss", just nice, fast
hammering.
