No you will blow out the VFD. You can not switch the load side of a VFD 
without running the risk of destroying the power transistors. What you 
want is a rotary phase converter. They will run several motors from one 
rotary. Typically they will carry three times the starting load. So a 5 
HP rotary will run 15HP of load but will not start more than a 5 HP 
motor.
