You have it right.  Lives up here in Sturgeon Bay, WI.  Great guy.  smelts 
his own and makes wootz (or at least thats what he calls it) billets.  From 
there he makes damascus and blades.  Beautiful work.  Recently did a 
smelting demo up in Bimidji, MN for the Northern MN Blacksmiths.
