[TheForge] household poisons

This sounds like urban legend in the making. I did a quick review of a
few MSDS's for liquid fabric softeners, and I didn't find anything more
dangerous than isopropyl alcohol in them. They also contain
detergent-like compounds. What is it that this chemist considered so
dangerous?

Home air quality CAN be quite bad. I disparage the advice so commonly
given to seal a home up tightly to save energy. A little ventillation
is essential. A lot of ventillation may be necessary in some cases.
Certain cleaning products are especially bad. Fortunately, your nose
can guide you here.

Yes, I agree. That was one of the more disturbing things I discovered
in
researching the chemicals I was using or considering using in the
studio. I couldn't avoid discovering that most home air quality is
actually worse. One chemist wrote to me to mention that he works with
a
lot of toxic chemicals in his lab, with care of course, but that he
forbids any liquid fabric softener to enter his home because it's so
toxic.
