This is one of the reasons I dont like to clean the house.
(just kidding)
Actually, its one of the reasons I do almost no finishing in house.
I try to work with materials that need little or no finishing, like
stainless or bronze.
I also like to have things galvanized.
I have also had quite a bit of indoor work powdercoated.
In those case I hope that the professional coating shop is doing a good job
of minimising toxic materials released into the environment, and even if
they are not, at least it is all in one place known of by the appropriate
regulatory agencies.
My one exception is that I do have a weakness for "one shot" sign painters
enamel. I often paint it over pieces that I have first had powdercoated.
