Thanks for the explanation, Peter, certainly at least equal to one 
picture.  Clear and concise, and now I've got a perfect picture in my head. 
I'll shake it out and dust it off once I get this treadle hammer 
finished.  Sort of like a Big Lick. I've been putting it off, but after 
trying to make a set of Acorn dies using a sledge, I set it up again and 
used the 25 pound billet I got for the treadle hammer, and made it work in 
two hits.  So now I'm convinced. And building a hammer.  Now I'll just have 
to worry about Fels Syndrome.... the urge to hit yourself and write 
entertainingly about it.
