[TheForge] last project

I tied a knot in small stock, then cut it open where it would be easy to
weld. That was a model as to how to bend the large stock. The shape was an
"eye" that then was bent up to 45 degrees, sort of like the line end of a
fishhook. Bending was done in a Hossfeld and on a platten table. The
straight section of one piece could be inserted into the eye of the other
and positioned as closley as possible, the extra material was cut off. Then
a weld was made inside the knot and the ends bent as close together as
possible under a press. Then a filler piece was inserted, welded ground and
sanded. The finish was sandblasting which erased a lot of the welding and
grinding. The first one took 3 men 3 hours. After the proceedure was worked
out we did the next 4 in a morning, not including the welding and finishing.
