When people are discussing woodworking injuries, I love to tell them how 
I lost a toe in a table saw accident.  3/4" dado blade stack took out my 
index finger joint among other things.  The doctor on call at 3am was a 
researcher who did an experimental joint replacement using my toe as the 
donor.  My wife made the decision on the experimental surgey since I was 
under.  When I awoke with a bandaged throbbing  foot I figured I had hit 
the medical malpractice jackpot.  As it was, I was even luckier, I got 
the use of my hand back.   It doesn't work perfect, but only I notice.
