Hello John:
As others have said..the delete button isn't hard to find.
While there are a few prudent adults amongst us, they are in an awkward
position in a profession that requires one to be overqualified for the
money it yields and the amount of dirty, dangerous physical work involved.
We are anachronisms..deviants of a sort.
Having a certain modicum of adolescent pleasure ,in making loud noises,
playing with fire and controlling dangerous situations, makes
blacksmithing much more attractive..much less like work.
Most of us do it for the grubby joy of it...at least in part.
Given a standard of acceptible risk like, say, the freeway...I'd say
that we are generally within reasonable bounds.
Further, despite the impish tone of the discussion, we gain a clearer
knowledge of the dangers involved in our medium from it.
Note that our society has deprived our gene pool of most natural
opportunities to eliminate genetic mistakes..
We are doing our best to restore that natural process.
My friends are dying of cancer and heart attacks in disconcerting
numbers this year.
I think I'd rather go out with a bang.
