Old Horseshoes can be forged into nifty hinges:
You draw out each end into a round tenon about 1-1/4" long and forge
them out, making a Greek Omega. These are the pins. Take another shoe,
flatten both ends to about 3/16 or 1/4 inch thick, making flat tabs
about an inch long. place the first shoe on top of the flats you just
made on the second shoe and curl the free ends over the two projecting
tenons, working to make sure the shoes swing freely. The second shoe is
nailed to the barn, the shoe with the tenons is nailed to the door. If
