Here, the biggest concern would be the safety factor of the sleeve
moving up and down... watch those fingers!
Another concern is the narrowing of the throat area. Again, this
can be mitigated by spreading the cylinders farther apart.
This arrangement is well protected from dirt. You can make the sleeve
arbitrarily tight to the cylinder. Put a scrubber at the bottom
and pretty near zero contamination should make its way into the
seal area.
I think this might be a good solution.
