Why not just cut the lead seal? Am I missing something?
I'd envision a tool like an inverted tubing cutter, rolling around the
inside of the lead pipe, pushing a cutter into the lead pipe.

... the shower drain is lead sealed to
the 2inch copper drain pipe. the shower floor is concrete. cutting the
copper pipe is not a viable option.
