The.002" over cut for the barrel isn't too bad. What you may want to do is
to build you a container around the barrel now to place ice in. If you
access to dry ice, that would even be better. Keep it cold for 24 hours and
the shrinkage will allow the liner to slide out. If the liner is reusable,
polish it up and the bronze also, place your liner in the freezer for 24
hours and then it should slide all the way home when you start back with it.

You know how you suspend a bearing in an oil bath heater to increase the
overall size to slide it on a shaft? You may want to do that also to the
bronze, unless it will discolor the bronze.
