No, thanks. Might work for you, but it would wear on my hand.
I wonder if some of these guys who have trouble hanging on are using gloves?
I like a bare, dry hand and a smooth handle.
I know of a smith trained in Germany who won't let anybody so much as lay
his hammer across the anvil for fear that the handle will get nicked and
give him a blister. He's the human power hammer, too- WAY over his head and
STRAIGHT down on the anvil, eight hours a day.
If I find myself hitting so hard that my hand slips, I quick take a break
and then use more heat or a bigger hammer, because that stuff makes my elbow
hurt for days. Can't push the hammer through the steel, gotta swing it.
