[TheForge] Werk smart, not hard

When I was in college, I was visiting at a friend's new apartment. He
was quite amused that the painters had painted right over the closed
window frames, gluing them shut. With me were two other people; Rich,
known for his ability to withstand pain, and Joe, known by some of my
friends as "the bronze god". First Rich went over and grunted, groaned
and strained to no effect on a window. Then Joe strutted over--he didn't
make any noise, but the window didn't either.
Now at this time I weighed about 140 pounds. You also have to realize
that the apartment was about 100 years old, windows with sash weights,
loose as a goose. I said "ok, it's my turn", walked over to the window,
whacked the frame to break the paint, and lifted it open easily. Joe
didn't speak to me for the rest of the day.
