Well,....if we are really going to get right down to true traditional 
methods...handed down from father to son in the trade.....mmmm, 
well.....what the old guys always said was ...." Piss on it".
It does work and the patinate ( is that a word?) is very commonly available.

Shannel; there is an old method of attaching aluminum to iron but it is 
8 or 9  steps. Perhaps the way to go is a real berry vine and a 
maintanance contract?....Pete
