the big foundries that make aluminum ornamental panels for fences and
railings cast a steel weld tab right into the aluminum part. I am not sure
how they do it, but I know that they do.  A little piece of 1/4" x 1" flat
bar, that sticks right out of the aluminum casting, and you just weld it
right on your rinky dink square tubing framework, with your spattery buzz
box that you dont know how to use.
If they can do it, then you probably could too. Or just get them to do it-
Lawler foundry in Alabama is the biggest one, and I know they do custom work
in both iron and aluminum.
