I'm not sure I undestand how that one works.  There's an attachment
with two idler wheels and a support plate.  Is that attached by
removing the big (rubber-tired?) wheel at the front and bolting the
attachment to the side of the steel box?

Exactly....I do all my hollow grinding with this machine. The flat platen
eats up too much HP rendering a flat grind too time consuming...
