Shannell, I used the program from Microsoft called "Front Page" and
got the "learn Front Page Disc" also. There is a definite learning curve
to the program as there are no instructions with it at all, so you have to
fumble thru things alot. It took a couple months and I had to shrink all my
pictures I'd taken for the portfolio to load faster on the web site.
The option in the Front page was a "slide show" that was offered
under Web components in the program.........so I didn't write the HTML for
the slide show, it was in the front page program........but that is also the
downfall on viewing the web site on Netscape as the Internet Explorer is
Mircrosoft related and works well and there are trigger commands in the
front page program that aren't recognized in the Netscape browser from what
I understand.
I did all the work, layout, and tried to post it myself, but had to
ask someone with more computer savy than I to help me post it. I have dial
up and the file was 9MB so it kept timing out, and not loading correctly
automatically thru the front page "publish" section of their program. I
downloaded WS-FTP and that transfers all the files easily and I had good
luck when shown that trick on how to publish, edit, and change files that
way.
The fellow that helped me post the web site is also the NEB
webmaster (who is 17) and a real wiz at computers (figures - when you want
to know how to do something with a computer, ask a teenager these days). He
tells me we can change the coding in front page to make the slide show work
on Netscape......and I guess all I can do is believe him, as I dont' have a
clue as to where to start on it. :-) I do enjoy learning and this is a
definite learning process. I would recomend Front Page if you have some
time to play with it, and go with the File transfer program I mentioned and
you'll have better luck posting to the site that way.
