Hey Shannell,
The advice I was given by a welder, who's opinion I value, is that If you
use an auto-darkening helmet often and strike 50 or more arcs a day you had
better blink your lids as you strike an arc.
I believe the faster the lens conversion the less dangerous this type of
helmet is to your eyes, but why take a chance.
When I weld up my bladesmithing anvils I generally work till I'm totally
exhausted. Now that I have learned to blink as a reflex action, my eyes feel
much better at the end of these sessions.
I firmly believe that vision like hearing loss is a cumulative hazard in
this kind of work .
