Hey Phlip,
Sorry about misspelling your name.
In your research you might want to check out the  CRC Handbook of Chemistry
and Physics.
My old copy describes the Flame test to detect Sodium compounds. The yellow
flare is characteristic of all Sodium compounds.  When subsequently viewed
thru a blue lens the flame then becomes colorless.
