[TheForge] Hammer poll

I've been reading posts about compressors and power hammers for a few years
now and came to a conclusion that may be in error. It's been my impression
that comparable self contained (Kuhn, etc.) power hammers are more efficient
than external compressor power hammers, Kinyon, etc. Unfortunately my hands
on experience is limited to half a dozen power hammers total and it's not
nearly a large enough sampling for a meaningful estimate.
What I'd like to do is take a very basic poll of folks who own and use power
hammers to develop a "simple" input to output ratio graph. There are too
many variables for this graph to do more than give a very basic curve but
hopefully it'll give me a handle on efficiency.
1) Type: mechanical (Little Giant, etc.), external compressor (Kinyon,
etc.), self contained, air or hydraulic (Nazel, etc.)?
2) Ram weight and bpm.?
3) Motor hp. 120v, 240v, single or three phase? Other?
4) Duty cycle? (an estimate of how many minutes out of a ten minute block,
or how long your hammer will run without running out of air. This question
is really only applicable to an external compressor air hammer.)
I know there are a bunch of other variables effecting a hammer's efficiency
but this is a casual poll.
Thanks,
Frosty
