This list is getting too PC and too elitist for me. See y'all. (And, no,

It's not really about PC, John, IMHO. One way of controlling your inbox
is by keeping the individual lists to which you subscribe on-topic,
i.e., the content for which you subscribed in the first place. If you
want to discuss a different topic, join another list.
I'm on, oh, probably about 2 dozen lists. Can you imagine what my
inbox would look like if every list welcomed every topic any member
chose to broach? I'd be bouncing emails before 2am every day. Even if
my inbox were unlimited in size, I'd never ever get through my mail,
much of which would not conform to the list descriptions and traffic
estimates that I initially used to decide if the lists would be useful
to me and within my capability to process.
An occasional OT post, or even thread is fine, because we are, after
all, a community. But inflammatory remarks on touchy subjects (politics
and religion being prime examples), in addition to being just as rude
as if made face-to-face, will only set off bandwidth-choking flame wars
that the majority of most lists (except the FlameWar List, of course)
would prefer -- not for their pc sensibilities, but rather for their
administrative sanity -- were taken off list.
Sorry to see you go.
