I don't know what cultures you're interested in but, I just uncovered a
bunch of small (paraphrased) Irish legends about blacksmiths and some of
the Brehon laws covering them. They're outlined in "Early Irish
Ironworking" by BG Scott. The book is difficult to find (although it is
available through Inter-Library Loan [ILL]), so I can write up a few of
the shorter stories if you want.

Hi,
I'm new to the list, and joined mainly because I need to pick the brains
of people who know about what it takes to be a blacksmith. I'm working on
a fictional story, where the main character works as a journeyman to a
blacksmith for part of the story. Does anyone know where I could locate
historical information, legends and/or lore surrounding blacksmiths? Or
does anyone here have such information they could share with me. You can
feel free to answer off list, unless anyone else is curious, too.
Thank you.
