[TheForge] Hot cut

I've recently been watching Roy Underhill (The Woodwright's Shop on PBS) when
he's visited the blacksmith shop in Williamsburg.
I noticed that their hot cut actually appears rounded instead of having a sharp
cutting edge.
It seems to work just fine, and it sure would extend the tool life that way.

I know that there is a preferred angle when grinding/sharpining wood
tools. Is there a proper angle to grind the cutting edge for a hot cut?
And since this tool will be used to cut hot metal should it be hardened
and tempered or just air cooled after forging (using S-7)?
Thanks in advance.
