[TheForge] Phlip--using charcoal in your forge

A friend of mine made some one time. He took a palate and cut it into
small square pieces then put them in a metal drum and lit them. He let
them start to turn black then put a lid on it and let them sit. He said
it was the best fuel source he's ever used in his forge.

Most buy charcoal before it has been ground up and made into briquettes
or
make there own.
One of the guild of metalsmith members from Minnesota made an enormous
pile
from soft wood charcoal one batch at a time I believe in a 30 gal
barrel.  I
have a copy of the directions somewhere but not sure where at the moment
