I am fond of an aluminium, beer half barrels.  Over the years I have come across quite a few of 
these tossed into the trash (I guess the folks did not want the deposits back).  Cut the top off 
and you have a fairly handy slack tub.  You can buy half whiskey barrels (wood) at garden 
centers.  They smell REALLY good when you get them wet - you need to wedge the rings tight 
and then soak it to get the wood to swell, but the do work pretty well.

A 50 gal drum, cut down, works well, too.
