        Hi Dave,  The 2% Thoriated tungsten is the lesser cost that will do
steel and stainless. The pure tungsten is more for doing aluminum as that's
more critical to contamination.
        The size of rod and tungsten usually is decided by the material
thickness.  You can actually use Mig wire for real small welds and parts to
keep the heat down, and speaking of small tight welds..........that's pretty
much how you determine what size gas cup to use.......as it will allow you
the control to get near enough to the weld to get it done (without touching
of course).  :-)
        Gas is usually much less than mig.  A good place to start is about 8
Cfm.
