I would like to add my 2 cents to the sawing discussion. I
have a band saw (horiz/vert), a portable band saw and
abrasive saw, which I try to avoid using whenever possible
due to noise and grit.

About a year and a half ago I purchased a small cold saw and
use it most of all. It is the Wilton "Willy 225". It has a
9" HSS blade, 1 HP motor and coolant system, and weights 85
pounds. It cuts precisely, without burs 90 degree and
swivels to one side to cut miters to 45 degrees. I set up it
up with in and out-feed tables made from 3x6" angle in front
of the stock rack. It will cut 1" square at 90 degree in
less than 20 seconds. The vise will hold 2" stock. The
largest material I have cut is 2x 0.75. For larger stock I
use the band saw. Price $1,000., from Grainger, MSC etc.
One of the best purchases I have made in awhile.
