The V&A collection is a tour de force of Continental ironwork, and of great
historical interest. Alas, it is...Victorian. I'm afraid that the very best of
English iron work went by by in the blitz. The Art Deco movement came late to
London and didn't last long under German bombing. Truly a shame. Post WW2 work
is only lately becoming worth looking at. Paris faired better.
