[TheForge] UMBA TAPES

Unfortunately the UMBA library is still not in operation.
I purchased a Sony 510A DVD burner for my computer, transferred all the VHS
material to digital only to find out the DVDs will only play on that machine
and not in any other DVD home type player. Sony also cheated me by
advertising it as a 4X burner but in order to use it you have to put ing
firmware that restricts it to 1X speed. Now the 90 day tech service has
expired and Sony says too bad. They will not even play in another Sony
player. This week I am ordering a Panasonic recorder and will start the
process over but with over 100 hours of tape this will be a few more months
wait.
The VHS masters were giving me problems making copy after copy so that is
why we planned to go to DVD
So please don't mail requests. Saturday I got a check for $50 that I need
to return.
Needles to say I will never buy another Sony product or recommend it as they
have NO customer support worth mentioning.
